We are fine and thanking God for the rains after a long time. As we come to the closure of the year the kids are looking forward to the annual party that we do for them, they are so excited and talking bout it every day. This year our school calendar was changed by the education ministry and schools closed the first week of November hence we have had a good turn up of the kids everyday and we have been keeping them busy at the centre. This year we dint have students in Primary school seating for their final primary exam, so we will not have any student joining form one next year. In high school we have five students who are currently doing their final exam which will end on 2nd of December and we are praying and hoping that they will do their very best.
Due to the change of the calendar schools will reopen early the first week of January.

In Kenya currently the political climate is so high since we shall not have election in December as the norm but in August so the campaigns have already started and we are praying that they shall be peaceful and we request you pray for us so that we do not go the 2007 way. Currently we are experiencing drought in some part of the county like Kilifi where deaths have been reported but we thank God for the rains that just started and we hope that it continues to rain as the cost of food has already gone up. but we pray that all shall be well.

Thank you for your continued support and i shall send more updates after the party with Pictures of the party as well and hope to get pictures of snow as well to share with the kids during the party

Summer letter

Hi kce,

I hope you are well and enjoying your summer. we are all fine and looking forward to closing of schools in a weeks time, where we will have a bigger group attending center activities. the activities having been going on well and experiencing growth every weekend as we are involving them in more activities on Saturdays and also due to the games you brought us. So far we have thirty three new kids attending where we hope to have more during the two weeks school recess.

Second term has been full of challenges in our boarding schools here in Kenya, as we have been experiencing alot of school unrest where by students have been burning school as a way of expressing there grievances. So far 74 schools have been burnt down by students which is so sad, we are thanking God as non of our students schools have experienced such challenges and we are hopping that we shall not have any, though today we were informed that Ruthimitu form four students were sent home after they refused to sit for there annual mock exam claiming that the exams were hard, the principal of the school sent them home to avoid incitement of the other students which might have resulted to the same unrest being experienced in other schools.

May letter

Hi,

I hope you are well and enjoying the cool climate there. We are well and enjoying our winter 😉 hahahaha

[separator]

We started the month with kids going back to school after April holiday. and we have been having our daily activities that is tuition during the week and fun day on Saturday which has attracted alot of young children after introducing a program for them with Snaider, this is a great progress and we are hoping for more better things in Future.

We are experience lots of rain which is a blessing but its causing havoc in some areas at the moment we have our winter come summer hahaha, very cold and hot at the same time so confused 😉 . On the sad part this month has been experiencing black Mondays which i guess you have read or watched in the news with opposition demonstrating on the streets every Mondays to have the IEBC removed due to lack of confidence with the electrole body. this monday was the worst as Kibera was a no go zone after protesters burned tires on the road and stole from people. but all in all we thank God for we are safe and no one in KCE was caught in between.
[separator]
We have also good news from our rugby team which worn a shied for the first time and we produced the top player in the world 😉 Injera after breaking world record on trials hit. hahahaha not everything is black after all.

Looking forward to sending more positive updates.

Kind regards

Emma Marichu

Home

If home is where the heart is, then home must be a place we all can share.
Because even with our differences our hearts are much the same.
Because where the heart is we can live together there.

[separator]
Where there is laughter ringing.
Someone smiling someone singing
We can live together there then love will be our home.

When there are children playing, where a tender heart is beating.
We can live together there then love will be our home.

KIBERA CHILDREN EDUCATION Remains to be our home of love.
Thanks our kibera children education family!!!!

Hello from Kenya

After a very long holidays all of us are back at work happy and more energized than ever to serve our children and ensure that we make a difference in our society.
In this year 2016 we shall continue to believe on our aspirations, having gone through the same experience from all the hardships in life,no food,no good family ties and now back in the community making a better place for the children and painting a new picture and appreciating the fact that change starts from our hearts.

Merry Christmas

As another year draws to close,I wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all our kibera children education sponsors who have generously supported our work over the last one year and beyond…….this life changing work couldn’t happen without your financial support.

[separator]
Am grateful for this blog as it provides everyone in the world an opportunity to provide for our kids education, A big thank you to Move Management for sponsoring a Christmas gift pack for our parents and staff.

I hope you have an enjoyable and restful Christmas break and all the best to you and your family this festive season from myself and the Kibera children education team in Kibera Nairobi Kenya.

Hi, I`m Abraham Otieno

My name is Abraham Otieno. I am fifteen years old. I have just done my final grade eight examinations referred to as (Kenya Certificate of Primary Education). My favorite subjects were Mathematics and Science. I like drawing and reading story books when am with my friends.I like to eat ugali (made from maize flour) and vegetables. My favorite color is blue it represents my limit which is the sky. I would like to become a medical professor as it would help me in helping the many members of our families who have lost their lives due to poor medication and lack of funds to pay hospital bills. I would like to treat children who are financially challenged. When I do this I will ensure the growth of the future leaders of Kenya and the world.
[separator]
I like Kibera Children Education because everyone is accepted regardless of your social background and their is no fee charged for one to access the services within the Library which include books for one to read, games such as play station and intern ate where we get more games and meet our friends in the social media . At the center their is also a garden where we plant flowers which make our compound attractive and beautiful.
[separator]
In a nutshell I love Kibera children and continue doing the good work for the kibera children.

Words from Dominic our teacher at the center

I happen to be reading one of Martin Luther kings book and I came across an extract that inspired me to appreciate all what I do for kibera children. The extract was,
[separator]
” Life’s most persistent and urgent question is , What are you doing for others ? “
[separator]
Kibera children education has enabled me  answer this question with ease as we provide education and ensure that children’s hope to acquire basic education in a difficult environment like Kibera is made possible.
